About LIRAYA

LIRAYA – Library Information Retrieval and Your Access

LIRAYA is a keyword-based library search system developed for the Technological University of the Philippines - Cavite. It was designed to make research faster and more convenient by allowing users to search using specific keywords instead of only book titles. The system uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to scan and convert book tables of contents, indexes, and thesis abstracts into searchable text. It supports the university’s initiative to build a more efficient and accessible digital library for both students, faculty, and admin staff.

System Process

Books and theses are uploaded by researchers, librarians, and department heads through scanning and OCR processing. The system automatically extracts keywords, page numbers, and relevant content, then stores them in the database. Each search made by users is recorded to help track usage and assist the library in returning books to their proper locations. This improves cataloging accuracy and ensures that all library materials remain organized and easy to find.

Project Statement

The researchers created this system as part of their thesis titled “Development of Keyword-Based Search for Technological University of the Philippines - Cavite.” It serves as both an academic requirement and a contribution to advancing the university library’s digital services, promoting innovation and accessibility for future learners.
